So what's new with non fiction?

We're creating a new collection here in the library!

I wanted to call it, Super Awesome Non Fiction That is Too Good To Get Lost in the Stacks but was shot down as that is apparently too long of a title and the wooden sign would have cost like eighty million dollars so...

...we're calling it High Interest Non Fiction (party poopers)

Unless you guys can think of a better title!!  That would be great!  The winner will get their title turned into a wooden sign that will sit on the top shelf.
Just keep the title fairly short because we're charged per letter for the sign

What's so special about this collection that we're pulling it out of the big stacks?

The titles that are going into the High Interest Collection are typically shorter then general non fiction.  They also appeal more to recreational readers (people who are reading for fun).

For example, I recently received a great book called The World After an Asteroid Strike which is skinny, only 56 pages long but full of interesting information about how the climate would change, what people would have to do for food, and how animals would react.  However, because it's such a slim book, if I shelved it with the other non fiction titles it would be lost forever.

And that leads me to another great thing about this collection.  It's browse-able!  How many of you like reading non fiction?  The current stacks don't exactly give off a warm and fuzzy browsing vibe.  But this new collection will be much more manageable.

So stop by the library and tell me what you think we should call this new collection.  Or reply to this post!  The winner will get their title immortalized forever!

New books in the library!

Here we are...March!  And with it Spring Break has arrived!  And you know what that means!  It's time to read all the things!

Now I know it doesn't feel particularly spring-like yet, what with us having two delays this week and possibly no school tomorrow...but I promise you, one of these days the sun will shine and the flowers will bloom and We Will Have A Spring.

So wherever you are this week, take a an hour or two to sit back, relax and read something for pleasure.  And if you're traveling and don't want to lug around books, don't forget to check out our e-book collection.  You only need to download the Overdrive app from iTunes and you're good to go.

(Just create an account using your school username and password).

Without further ado...TO THE BOOKS!
