Happy Windsday Everyone!

On such days as this, everyone always look out the window and says, "Today would be a good day to stay at home and curl up with a good book on the couch!"

Do you have tried and true books that you like to pull out on days like this?  Books you might have read before but there's comfort in the familiar pages and it doesn't matter if you finish it because you've read it already and know how it ends?

I do.  Here are a few of my favorite rainy day books.  Feel free to let me know yours in the comments!

A Countess Below Stairs by Eva Ibbotson

Decider by Dick Francis

The Evolution of Calpurnia Tate by Jacqueline Kelly

The Crystal Cave by Mary Stewart

Year of the Griffin by Diana Wynne Jones

To Say Nothing of the Dog by Connie Willis

And for those who didn't get the subject of this post, here's where it's from:

Happy Anniversary to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory!

Remember when Charlie opened up that special chocolate bar and discovered he had the last golden ticket?  Penguin Publishing is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the release of Roald Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

They are awarding five golden tickets, just like in the original story.  This time instead of a trip to Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory, the winners will receive a Golden Ticket Trip of a Lifetime to New York City.

This includes:
  • A VIP experience at Dylan’s Candy Bar (I've heard rumors you get to work there for a day)
  • Tickets to Matilda the Musical
  • A year’s supply of chocolate
  • A visit to the Empire State building
  • A library of Roald Dahl books
Go here, to the Penguin website to download the entry form and get the mailing address.

How exciting!

Did you know...

...that April is Poetry Month?

Our poetry door is up and running and several students have shown their lyrical skills in crafting, well not poems exactly, more fortune cookies, but still very clever turns of phrase.

And for a close up...

New Books in the Library!

Here are the new books for this month!

Fans of Downton Abby should take a look at Landry Park and Manor of Secrets. The first has a dystopian slant and the other has a delicious upstairs/downstairs friendship for a twist.

The series that started with Cinder (think Cinderella with cyborgs) continues with Cress, I bet you can guess which fairytale character this one is about by looking at the cover.

Basketball lovers should take a look at Crossover. It's amazing...I didn't even notice it was written in verse, I randomly opened a page and ten minutes later realized I'd not stopped reading.

So many great new titles, and all for your choosing! Stop by and take a look, Easter break is not too far off, you may want a book for the holiday.

And if you happen to find a feedback slip in your book, would you be so kind as to fill it out?  Thanks!
