UnRequired Reading Cover Contest

Here's an exciting competition for all you budding artists!

Disney Hyperion hosts a program called UnRequired Reading in which students are encouraged to design book covers for the chance to have their design featured on the next published book.  This month is the lastest in the Hex series by Rachel Hawkins.

Hex Hall and Demon Glass were the first two followed by the latest, Spell Bound.  The cover looks like this (in keeping with the theme):

However, one lucky winner will have their cover design chosen for a special printing with their cover on it.  Ten other winners (to be judged by Rachel Hawkins, herself) will receive an autographed copy of Spell Bound.

What do you need to do?

To start, you have to be at least thirteen to participate.
  • First, go read the first chapter here (click on Sneak Peak to get to the pdf copy of the first chapter).
  • Design an ORIGINAL cover! Design should:
    • Include the title and author (use this template if you want)
    • Use only original art and photography (no internet images!)
  • Send your entry to Mrs. Julsonnet via email and she'll submit it on your behalf.
  • The contest ends April 17th.
Good luck and have fun designing!
