Banned Book Week

Today kicks off the start of Banned Book Week.  Stop the library and take a look at some of the books which have been banned over the years.  I think you'll be surprised at what you find

Readers and writers unite!  People from all over the world have joined together to create a Banned Book Week's Virtual Read-Out. Chris Crutcher below (one of YA's top banned authors) reads from a banned book.

You can view all of the videos so far on the Banned Book Week Channel.

Here is something of interest. It is a girl who is secretly running a banned book library in her strict school. She is getting media coverage at this point -- you can google keywords like "banned book library girl" to find more.

  2. Great comment, Jackie! I'd read about her secret library locker but totally forgot. I love a little revolutionary behavior on behalf of beleaguered books everywhere!

  3. I love the girl who has her banned books library, but I wonder if the administration has cracked down since all the news coverage...

But still, hooray for everyone standing up for intellectual freedom!
